She Always Got Her Way
Friday, May 28th, 2010They had been to a dozen jewelry stores shopping for his wedding ring. She planned a small ceremony with close friends and family. Today, he wasn’t helping with the preparations. He petulantly repeated that none of these were men wedding bands. She couldn’t seem to motivate him further.
She explained that gold bands were generic and hers would be the same only with an engagement ring next to it. All he kept saying was he didn’t want a feminine ring. She asked him what he expected them to buy as an alternative. He looked like a man with no clue. She repeated that a gold band was not going to look feminine.
When her parents met this guy she planned to marry, they were unimpressed. The first words out of their mouths were an inquiry into his IQ and his job prospects. It was impossible to tell them she wanted to marry him cause she liked the way he looked. His sexy blue eyes and thick blond hair were enough to make up for his slightly lower level of intelligence.
But what about the children, she sometimes wondered. Well, my high IQ will make up for whatever points his is lacking she concluded. The job thing they could figure out later. She was not very good at planning ahead. She gave up on rings and took him to a furniture store.
She wanted a nice cherry-wood bedroom set with a massive sleigh bed. He looked at cheap modern low-cost junk. She was determined to get the one she had her heart set on. However, at this time in her life she would have slept with him in a loft bed. In fact it might be fun. Then they could save it for one of their children to use later on.
The led him over to the bed she wanted. Although they couldn’t afford the whole set, the salesman said it was open stock. She could get the chest, dresser and two night stands later on. She wasn’t so sure they’d be available in six months as he said, but they ordered the bed and arranged delivery.
They went next door to yet another jewelry store. Standing in front of the large display case she asked the salesman to show them the most masculine wedding bands for men that they sold. Urging her fiance in her most appealing way, she said the first row looked manly to her. They had never found such manly rings in the other stores. He finally agreed and chose the one he liked. They paid for it and went home after the long day of shopping.
