Avoiding Giving A Really Bad Best Man Speech
Thursday, February 24th, 2011If you have been asked to be someone’s best man at his wedding, then the one thing you won’t want to do is to give a really bad best man speech. There can be a lot of pressure on the best man to get the speech just right, but it is a special day and the speech can be a memorable part of it. Here are just a few ideas for how you can avoid giving a best man speech that sucks.
- The amount of effort that you put into the speech will determine how well it goes on the day. Some people attempt to wing it with an impromptu speech and this is the most likely to be a disaster. The less effort you put into the speech the more likely you are to perform badly. Even if you have a couple of months to go before the wedding you should start preparing now preparation takes time and you may be surprised at how fast the time passes between now and then.
- Always remember that the focus on the speech should be the bride and groom; you should also consider the rest of the audience. You should make sure the content of your speech is appropriate for all the guests and never take this opportunity to air any grievances that you have with others.
- A light-hearted speech is usually the best approach but you need to be careful when it comes to telling jokes. Let’s be honest here, some of us just can’t tell a joke to save our lives, and we are likely to bomb miserly if we tell too many jokes during the speech. There is no harm in having one or two jokes in your speech but don’t try to give stand up comedy a go because chances are it just wont’ work.
Everyone knows that if somebody gets wedded their life changes once and for all. At least men would think so, anyway. What better way to see off single life than with a stag weekend Budapest?
